The Hansa Berufskolleg in Unna is a vocational school with focus on business and administration situated in a localisation of various schools providing general and vocational education. While it is the district Unna that is responsible for vocational schools, schools providing general education are subject to the city of Unna.
Among the schools providing general education and being part of the Educational Centre of the city of Unna are the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium (grammar school), the Peter-Weiß-Gesamtschule (comprehensive school) and the Anne-Frank-Realschule (secondary modern school). Further vocational schools subject to the district Unna in the proximity of the Hansa Berufskolleg are the Märkische Berufskolleg (with focus on welfare, healthcare and domestic economy) and the Hellweg Berufskolleg (with focus on engineering and designing).
Currently there are about 2,500 students studying in one of 19 different programmes. On their educational endeavour they are accompanied by our highly specialised staff of more than 100 teachers. About two thirds of our students attend one of very diverse courses as part of their vocational training. As partner within the German dual education system we provide courses for different branches of craft, industry, trade, and several service enterprises. All other students attend courses of the commercial school (to obtain German Class 10 School Leaving Certificate), commercial college (to obtain German higher education entrance qualification) and grammar school (German university entrance qualification).
